The MECTEST Processor is a medical device intended
for processing meconium into a suitable form for the
analysis of drugs of abuse, specifically, cocaine,
opiate and cannabinoid, using FDA-cleared methods:
radioimmunoassay (RIA), enzyme multiplied immunoassay
technique (EMIT) and fluorescence polarization immunoassay
(FPIA). Specifically:
- MECTEST is a meconium processor only.
- After processing meconium, the product (analyte)
can be subjected to analysis for cocaine, opiate
and cannabinoid using radioimmunoassay.
- After processing meconium, the product (analyte)
can be subjected to analysis for cocaine and opiate
using enzyme multiplied immunoassay technique or
EMIT.
- After processing meconium, the product (analyte)
can be subjected for analysis for cocaine and opiate
using FPIA or fluorescence polarization immunoassay.
The test results for the analysis of cocaine, opiate
and cannabinoid by RIA, EMIT or FPIA are only preliminary
and should be confirmed by other methods, preferably
by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). |
